Issue Date For British Occupation Of Mosul Overprints 1919

Hello all,

The British Occupation of Mosul overprint issue was said got released in Feb 1919.

Recently I found a document from David Feldman Auction Dec. 2014, Lot 54549.

It is the Postal Notice announcing the Mosul Issue and signed by E.Clepici, Deputy Director, Postal Services, Iraq, with all six values in irregular blocks of five, applied on reverse of document and tied by MOSUL/13.FEB.19 cds.

So the issue date should be Feb 13, 1919. But when I examine the postmarks, I found one of the 5 postmarks ( one in the middle ) has a different date which is: 01 Feb 19.

Any one knows why?

Unless the notice refers to the stamps being issued on the date of the cancels, a cancellation on an internal post office bulletin does not constitute an issuance. The issue date is that on which the stamp (officially) is released to the public.
