Any image except from a scanner where the stamp or cover is FLAT, is practically useless in examining details.
Corollary - Any image of item in question without genuine side-by-side in same image, is likewise useless. (Even if a challenge to obtain a "good" one, that is good experience, and should be easier than first thought -- one still on mail also usually works, and this item has been out for almost 3 years. You, family, friends, someone should have some envelopes lying around (e.g., greeting card envelope) with same-looking coil... and it might be a counterfeit, too ... unless you can contact the mailer and find out they did buy their roll at the post office.
Whoever notes the distance between something in one color and something in another color is ignoring the problem of multiple ink registration, for ALL presses, printing genuine or counterfeit items. Never use this as a test.
About "
Amazon", hopefully soon enough it will be "common knowledge" that many items they sell, esp. like "postage", is not "Amazon's" business, but third-party. And this nonsense of 'overstock' etc., give me a break -- at today's high (actual) postage cost -- this "we bought too much" has been used at least for 10 years by counterfeits sellers... on
ebay (
ebay has tried to shut these listings down), and now Facebook,
Amazon, and directly through emails that I find in my Spam folder about once a month.
