Japan Union Export Hosiery Manufacturers Assocation

I assume this is a cinderella. I found it in an unsorted collection of foreign stamps:

Inspection Stamp for the Japan Union Export Hosiery Manufacturers Association ... "Made in Japan":



Is anyone familar with it? Can you date it's use?

I have a similar one for the Pencil Mfg. assn.

Don't know why, but this brings to mind the old David Letterman joke, "Hi, I'm number 56, and I'm here to finish inspecting your pants."

I don't know if that's yours, Ciletaliph, but if it is, I would say that may well be quite valuable, showing the actual usage of the inspection stamp.

I'm drawing a blank on the term at the moment (and, sadly, that's happening more and more as time goes by), but there's a term in philately and exhibiting about material like this.

If a genuine usage, I could see that going into an auction in Japan or Hong Kong.
