The previous owner of this album had this stamp in the section for Colombia, but I cannot find any reference to it. Does anyone know what this is or have an ID for it. Thanks in advance - Jeff

This is a "seal" of sorts - A Cinderella for sure. From the "Committee for the Decoration and Betterment" of Barranquilla, Colombia (a once sleepy coastal town on the Atlantic Ocean). That is a fantastic stamp.

Barranquilla is the home town of Shakira (the Latin Music singer). This is, of course, why it is no longer a sleepy town.

Thanks smauggie. If you are up for it, I have a few that are on this same page and I cannot identify them. I think there is a whole set of forgeries, but maybe you know better. Will scan and post right here in a minute. - Jeff

I identified the 2 1/2 centavo and you did the red cinderella, but all the other crude Bolivars are ??

The 10 Centavos Panama map stamp is a real one, issued just around the turn of the century. It was overprinted for use in Panama when that country gained independence from Colombia in 1903. The others feature the name of a the province of Antioquia. I know that stamps from this part of Colombia exist as locally issued stamps, but I know very little about them. The lack of detail in the design might lead you to think they were forgeries, but they might be legitimate local issues.

Jeff let me know what you are missing for Columbia and if I have it, it is on the way. I have a few South America collections that are left over.

thanks 1775mac, it might be a little time coming, I need to unclutter some of my recent acquisitions, which by the way everyone is generously helping me sort, sort of, when I am out of sorts. Wow too much sorting, but thanks 1775mac. I am sure we can get around to finding some great trades. - jeff
