About a year ago an Ebay lot advertised as "Scott 153 Repaired on Right Side" with 99cent start and 50cent shipping. The scans are below Aside from the repair it also has perhaps the world's worst fake grill. Description did specify "numerous faults" without specifically mentioning the grill. Of course, the 153 does not have a grill. Not the best desciption but definitely not deceptive. The stamp sold for almost $89.00 with 27 bids for 16 bidders. I am sure that many bidders thought they had a bargain on a Scott 142. Knowledge is your best protection on Ebay |

I agree with John, it's still insulting, no matter what slant you put on it. Where are you going to draw the line between a mistake that qualifies you as a "bunny"? What may be obvious to you, may not be to someone else. Calling anyone a bunny is disrespectful.

What you choose to spend your money on is your business (not the stamp police)

AA, I agree but I also wonder how many times the buyer blames the seller for a bad listing. |

Rod and LB are 100% correct.
Just because you don't agree with somebody else's buying decisions is no excuse for ridicule and belittlement. |

I'm sorry to have to disagree with Rod and others. If I had named and ridiculed the Bunny who bought that worthless photocopy of Bundi for $60, you might have a point.
However, my point in raising the matter isn't to question the buying preferences of someone else. My point is that spending $60 on an item with red warning flags all over it, without doing a little research, is foolish and simply throwing money away. This is, in its own way, comparable with believing a Nigerian letter scam, and it deserves to be pointed out so that, hopefully, others won't make the same mistake.
There's a big difference between ignoring warning signs and failing to do due diligence, and taking a calculated gamble. I do the latter regularly among the Indian States. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. |

I have to agree with Rod, LB, etc.
If, in your opinion, someone has thrown away their money on an item you can:
1. Point it out in a civilized manner -- "that buyer paid more than I think that item was worth", "I wouldn't have paid that much", "that buyer probably got ripped off"; or 2. Resort to ridicule and name-calling -- "bunny"
There's no need for the second. In most cases, you have no idea why the buyer made their decision. I pay more than market or catalog value for items all the time for any number of reasons. Does that make me a bunny? |

And I recently paid around ten times Gibbons for a used copy of Bhor SG 1 - because it was actually postally used, not CTO.
However, with the greatest respect, you miss the point here, PostmasterGS. (1) You can't point out, in a civilised or a rude manner, to buyers on eBay that they've overpaid, because eBay conceals their identities. (2) Any buyer who pays $US60 for a photocopy of a rare stamp IS a bunny. The buyer may have his or her reasons for doing so, but they can only be bunny reasons.

I set my own limits so if I'm out bid (which is often) I don't label them bunnies because they were willing to pay more that's their business not mine.

I purchsed this in a mixed lot for $US8.01 plus modest postage cost. Who is the bunny, the vendor or the buyer? |

Neither of ya! The seller was probably happy to get rid of it because of the folded and pierced selvedge, and obviously you are happy to include it in your holdings. Win-win! Does the central vignette shift add a premium? Is it large enough to count as an error?
Just my take,

Here is one that I was happily surprised with the final sale amount: Neither of us bunnies if you ask me! |
