"This is a poorly trimmed stamp." There, fixed it for ya! Amazing what some try to pass off as imperf stamps. |

I believe it is not a trimmed piece but rather an imperf as listed (314). The marks at the bottom of the Stamp increase in the distance between each one going from right to left, so I don't think it's a bad trim job. Also imagine the "Jumbo margins this one would have if I can see the top Guideline and still not see any perfs.....So if someone had a Stamp (300) with the largest margins ever on a 300 the premium for those margins certainly would produce a higher bid than a questionable imperf ? |

Don't think so! Seems to me to be a corner stamp (hence the large margin and guidelines). The prefs are clearly visible across the bottom. |

You are all wrong. It's clearly a #316(vertical coil) that has been trimmed to fool you into thinking it is a poorly trimmed #300(perf) used to fake a #314(imperf). It was very common to do this, which is why #316 is so rare. Most of them were foolishly used by forgers to make #314! But seriously, I suspect it is actually a booklet single from #300b (for example, from pane position 13E, right middle stamp) that has been somewhat poorly trimmed at top/left/bottom. Perforations/guillotine on booklets are notorious for significantly off. In the example shown in the listing, the right edge is the only side that appears perfectly straight. The bottom edge clearly shows some divots that match the proper spacing. In addition, the larger parts of the other margins (toward left of top margin, and toward bottom of left margin) seem to hint at a possible divot or two. Just my guess. |

I have to agree with KHJ, which is why I wrote a corner stamp, either of a sheet or booklet. |

The seller has delisted the item in question. I wonder if he/she reads SCF? |

I have purchased items from this seller before without any issues. Also I stick to my theory that this is an imperf and not a scissor perf trim. I do not believe the indents on the bottom of the stamp were perfs as the spacing between them isn't right. The margins are too large for it to be a 300 trimmed down to make it appear to be a 314 and I don't think it's a vertical coil as I can see the top guideline but no perforations. |

I notified him that it was a fake!

So have I. But this is a fake.

I think it was nice of him to get rid of those nasty perfs. They do make a stamp look so unsightly. |
