One Way To Kill A Year

I saw an ad in The American Stamp Dealer and Collector publication, or maybe it was the last Linn's, last night. It offered 25# of mixed U.S. on paper for $99. How long do you think it would take to soak, sort, and dispose of that lot? I can't even imagine tackling it.

That sounds massive. But wouldn't it be great to get a box like that with actual postage on it instead of a postage label.

I have bought 4 pounds of mostly U.S. there is a lot of kindling in there..you find some skipped mint stamps and plate number singles..but I doubt if you would get 99 dollars worth !!

That's probably true, Phil. I just can't imagine what one would want with that much duplicated material unless he or she were going to make up cheap packets. Even then, I can't imagine it's worth the time and effort it would take.

I just can't understand how stamp traders can use metered postage on the envelopes of trades. I feel like refusing the letter.

I have to respond to this, even as old as it is. I bought 200# for $200 and it came in two very large boxes (100# each). I think it was all missionary donations. Needless to say, some of the excess paper was obscene. But outside that, the mixture was pretty good, and there were several pounds not on paper. It did consume a few days just to do a few pounds, and the majority of it still sits in several boxes, waiting to consume my time again :)

I cannot imagine how long it would take for 200 lbs of mission mix. I bought about 5 lbs worth a few years ago and I am still looking through it every so often. I have not even got a chance to work on the stuff I get from work. I average about 100-150 stamps on paper a week from the mail at work. I have about 3 years worth waiting on me to pick through it to get them in my albums.

we cant answer yur question las unless you tell us if you are going to attempt it with or without the spinach.

Oh man, I just started this hobby, but I really hope I don't get to that point! haha ;P
But it must be really interesting to look through so many stamps.
