So I've been having fun keeping an eye out for revs on docs recently, and have picked up a total of 5 docs from one seller on
eBay recently. Just in was an 1871 NY Mortgage deed with an R27, R67 and R81. Tricky identifying silks on doc and the R67 particularly so. Pretty sure the R81 is silk based on a thread, ink color and thickness of paper. Whats interesting are all the plate scratches (if that's indeed what they all are) the biggest of which I've circled. Are there particular positions on the plate more susceptible to plate scratches? Maybe towards the edges? I would imagine this is quite common on later printings. The R27 has a nice embossed seal and is on a smaller attached piece of pink paper. Just thought I'd sow-and-tell.
Happy hunting!
