I have posted pics of this cover before.
Other than a discussion of the unique
name of the town, Slate Lick, it was
fairly uneventful as posts go.

It is hand canceled Dec 6, 1861.
I may, or may not, have mentioned that
my grandmother (father's side) grew up
in Slate Lick...

NEW INFO:
I was speaking with her recently about
her childhood memories and listening to
stories from her childhood. After all
my 40 years on this earth, I just
found out for the first time that she
grew up with Billy Graham... Yes, THAT
Billy Graham. He lived nextdoor to her,
and they were roughly the same age.

She was telling stories about all his
antics and said he was a "nasty little
boy". He did things to make her run
home crying on a regular basis. Once,
he even snuck a pair of scissors so
he could come up from behind her and
snip off one of her pigtails!

Anyway... Could this cover be addressed
to Billy's grandfather?

NEVERMIND!
I just googled him and he is from Charlotte NC!
So her "Billy Graham" is NOT 'the' Billy Graham!

I'm leaving the post up just because it's
still a fun story, even if it's embellished.
