I recently found these two Latvia overprints for which I cannot find reference in my Scott.
They are overprints of stamps that were not issued but Scott makes no reference to overprints.
It only addresses perfs, imperfs, reprints and counterfeits.
I wonder if anyone out there has any gossip.
Thanks in advance.

Russia - Stamps issued by the army of the West.

It was led by Count Paul Mikhailovitch Awaloff-Bermondt, a
White Russian adventurer who sought, under the German
/ Polish General Rüdiger von der Goltz to create a German
controlled Latvia and to restore a Russian Czar in the Baltic
Provinces, in 1919. Defeated, he fled to Denmark.

There has been some debate in philatelic circles as
to whether the stamps served some postal use within
the area controlled by this army.

The overprinted sets were considered as speculative issues.

I've seen same overprint on 3 stamps, but don't know what they are.

But the stamp behind the overprint I know a bit... They are Russian West army under general Bermondt-Avalov stamps (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 60 and 75 k). These were prepared for use by the forces in Latvia, but were never issued as the post office was back under Latvian control by the time the stamps were ready.

You know, Rod, sometimes Scott really sasses me.
The originals are listed as commentary under Latvia and the overprinted ones are listed neither under Latvia nor Russia.
There are listed under Russia stamps issued by the Army of the Northwest but nothing even remotely close to these.
So I shall print your contribution and insert it as a "special page" in my Russia back-of-book.
Thanks again.
