What can market do with prices of stamps is really crazy

I start collecting first issue stamps, and compare prices for them...

First issue of USA: issued: 3,717,500 copies, price for good example: 250 - 400USD
7th issue of Solomon Islands: issued: only 7,281 copies!, price for good example: 70USD, price for first issue (45,364 copies) is 8USD?

Nothing crazy about this at all. "value" is determined by a number of factors including scarcity, condition, availability etc. and most importantly, by what people are prepared to pay for it. The competition for early Solomon Islands issues is very limited and therefore they do not demand high prices.
