Getting ready for a good lick he is / she is. Must be for one of those large sized stamps. What a nice dog. Dalmatian?
Prince, I like that Eye Catching idea. That would possibly be different for everyone too.
I have seen eye-catching items on auction sites that do make me stop and some of them were just stamps I had seen before that were arranged and displayed in a different way that seemed to strike a chord with me. I have saved some of these pics so that if (when) I collect those stamps I will arrange them in than fashion.
I agree with Timbres667 and laswabbie - don't bother with popularity / unpopularity, go with stamps you like - the great thing about stamps is that it's completely up to you how you collect and organise your stamps.
So I started with animals, and arranged them scientifically (ie by species) - on loose leaf stock albums so it was easy to expand and update. Then I started with flowers (many really beautiful sets from round the world) - and now have a full album of these, with about 50 double sided leaves of stamps.
Then that expanded to include plant products (fruit, veg, drinks like tea and coffee, etc). Then I realised I had some nice stamps to do with food and farming . . . so that collection is now in another very full loose leaf albums.
And so on - I must now have about 20 albums with different themes, some shared with other collectors, others quite personal. Have fun! (after all, isn't that the point of a hobby?)
