Have noticed that there are any number of themes for collecting stamps so it would be interesting to know what are the most weirdest and whackiest ones......

Certain cinderellas make for some weird collecting topics. Consider this one from Japan for "hosiery": |

I think an interesting idea for a topical collection would be to find some common item that has never occurred on a stamp. Then you could have a title page: Topical collection of XXXX - complete. Followed by a blank page.

One idea that amuses me for some reason would be a collection of forgeries only.... the stamp collector who collects no actual stamps! I don't know why but I find that funny... Regards Gavin |

The smallest must be Electrical insulators. There is a thread here for it |

Watermark marginal examples as a theme is amazing. Trying to put stamp sheets back together from a 100+ years ago as a theme. Really enjoy finding stamps for others, a great theme. Just love a good bulk lot this theme fits into all of the above.
Might sound a little strange but most of my youth collecting was to sort KGVs for others. In a very basic way that is what sort of a collector I am. They were never my stamps but I sure did like collecting that way and still do. To be trusted with somebodies stamps is a great theme in stamp collecting. |

AnthonyUK, have you kept up with the insulator thread (s). Those little suckers appear with great regularity on stamps. Who would have thought?? |

One that I am sure some people do.... covers with postally used stamps from two different issuing authorities.
I have seen them sent to the USA from outside with a USA Special Delivery stamp for example. And items sent from the Calf of Man to the Isle of Man then out from their.
Would make a fascinating collection with lots of odd unexpected covers I expect.

I heard of someone who collected only ugly stamps. The more messed up, torn, heavily cancelled- the better. |

I collect pink stamps :) ...but Lint Nells? LOL I don't think I've ever seen lint on a stamp. I've seen pictures of artwork that people create from saving different colors of dryer lint though! Theres an idea for your beloved picture postage stamps Puzzler! |
