Hi, I'm Nexda. I'm a middle aged female type person. I started my colletion of stamps when I was a kid. The stamp I started with was the United States Air Mail First Man on the Moon stamp. Then I just accumulated stamps. My stamps were packed away for a few decades then in 1990 something I found them again. I bought a stamp catalog only to find that my collection of used stamps had value only to me and my unused stamps' value was whatever was printed on them to mail a letter. I thought it would be fun to join this group and learn more and also share pictures of my favorites...if I can ever get that posting photos thing sorted out. I also have a modest collection of coins and currencies, and am so happy to have found this site. Nexda

Welcome Nexda! I have always wanted to visit New Mexico and ride in a balloon at the balloon festival there, and see the caves, and desert. Nice giraffe post. Photo / pic tutorial is on the menu bar thing to the left side of the screen. I don't use a photo hosting site like some do. I just use photo editing software on the computer to scan and re-size the photos to the forum limits (90 kb or so). Takes a bit more time but it does leave the scans here on this site instead of somewhere where they erase it after a year (I think, maybe not). Good for searching later on. Important thing is to have fun. |

Welcome! I've heard it is beautiful in NM! Join in and have fun! I have a nice selection of recent NewMexPex show covers (envelopes) that depict sites found on historic Route 66 in the cachet (picture on the left). |

Thank you all for the warm Welcome. Puzzler--I did read the tutorial (as you suggested) and adjusted the resolution setting on my scanning software. I'm on dial up and Photobucket doesn't like me sometimes. The Balloon Fiesta ended a couple of weekends ago. I like to look at the balloons but you can't get me up in something that you can't steer or doesn't have brakes and that can fall great distances. Carlsbad Caverns is an experience. If you're lucky you'll get to see the Bats.
Stampgal--thanks for the double welcome. I lurked here for a while and finally decided to join the party. The threads are amazing..the pictures, the knowledge, and history.
Russ--I'm a Native...a real native...you know...Yah teh hey. But I live in Belen now.
Stamper Dude--The state really got into promoting U.S. 66. I never thought about collecting show covers. Very cool.
Thank you everyone, again, for welcome and encouragement. Nexda

Some of my topicals' subjects are discussed in 2008 threads. Is it okay to just bring those old threads up adding my stamp pictures and histories? Or must I create a new thread? Nexda

Either way will work. If your stamp(s) will fit in to the older thread's topic or theme (some threads wander off to interesting places sometimes) then yes it is OK to add to them.
If you think that it deserves a topic all it's own, then start a new topic.
If you start a new topic it is nice for future readers and searchers to say the country name or topic or theme in the title. Sometimes you can't or it is something of interst so you can't always foloow that rule.
I think the idea is to attract other interested people and then they will add to the story if they have anything to add.
But have fun is important too. |
