Oh good grief. I just noticed that your (mark44044) avatar is a hexagon shape on a stamp. Now I have to collect old US stamps too. Aaaaaah.

Keep in mind Scott Value is for . . . that perfectly centered piece . . .

. . . and it is priced for someone who really wants to buy that stamp too. Supply and demand.

That is not a negative comment but an opporyunity to know that you can look at things slightly differently and they appear slightly new and fresh and appeal to someone out there as long as you tell them about it.

If there are 1000 milk bottle caps lying around and someone is asking a lot for one then he may not get the price he has decided he should get. Unrealistic assumption. I run into this all the time. Not that I have any milk bottle caps (wish I did, now that I think of it).

Part of the problem (I think) is that you (or I) are not established, well known dealers who can ask a higher price because we trust them (mostly) as they know more (hopefully) about stamps. And they have access to a bigger specialized market. We are low man on the totem pole and must hope that if we describe it properly and hang it out there on the line for all to see long enough that some nice person will want it as they wander by.
