Some weeks ago I made my first attempt to sell on ebay during a Free listing weekend. I was sent an automated email with my name on it stating it was free. Everything went well and I sold a number of items, including to some members here. A few weeks after that, I received another 'Free listing' offer, again addressed to me with my name. The emails from ebay are automated of course. This time I spent time scanning and planning only to find out that I could NOT list for free ! As I has wasted time trying, I decided to contact ebay. No chance. I wrote, sent email after email, discussed the problem on the ebay forum and still no reply or solution as to what happened. I found out at least two other ebayers had the same problem, but seemingly most did not. So I gave up. ebay never contacted me. Two days ago I got another 'Free listing' email offer for this weekend. I have just now tried to list one item [I do not want to waste time again] and sure enough I was charged a listing fee. I did not click on 'post item' but the charge is there on the page. Someone suggested posting an item and the fee will not be charged, but if I do that and am charged, I will NEVER get my money back. With ebay there is no one to complain to, I have tried before about feedbacks. Suggestions anyone ? Thanks in advance Londonbus1

ebay is now pushing a "raise your sale profile in Europe" campaign. I had a French document for sale so followed instructions to the letter and paid the premium fee to have its "visibility" raised in France. It does not appear when I search ebay France. I was unsuccessful in getting through to ebay to complain. What a surprise. |

ebay Australia are having a FREE listing for 99c and cheaper auctions this weekend. Given the amount of time it takes to scan, describe, upload, etc., it hardly seems worth the effort. If it sells for 99c you still pay fees, then add PayPal charges, and it is definitely not worth it. |

Londonbus1, sometimes the free listings are country specific. For instance, ebay Canada have free listings a few weeks ago, but I had to log onto ebay.com ebay.com ebay dot ca to get them. If I went to ebay.com, I did NOT get them, even though my account is the same name. Maybe that is what happened to you. Edit: For some reason when I type in ebay dot ca it changes to ebay dot com! |

I can list on ebay.uk up to 99p for FREE all the time. But as Plateflaw said, it's not worth it. So I list when it's a free weekend to sell a few better items and make it worthwhile. If ebay do not want me to list for whatever reason, then they should stop sending me emails to the contrary. But there is no one to talk to, no one at ebay to talk to. Earlier, I visited the ebay forum and had quite a laugh with the number of complaints...but it's only blah, blah. So is this I guess. Think I'll just put everything up for sale here at a cheaper price and be done with it. Londonbus1 |

Londonbus1, As Bee See says, it depends on which country you are registered with on ebay as to what discounts you get. You might also get the discount but it will not show on the listing page but will show after a day or two on your Account page which lists all your transactions. They will show the regular charge and then days later a refund for a promotional rate for that item. This happens if you use anything except the Sell Your Item page to list, like TurboLister or a third party service like Auctiva. The US had a promotion one time that did not extend to Canada (usually it does) and when I listed some things I did not get the promotional rate as I am registered on ebay.com ebay (.ca) not .com . Bee See, Maybe you have to clear your browser's form history. Or ebay is assuming you want .com as you may be registered on .com ? I can go to .com or .ca. edit, try again .ca |

If you are registered on .com and list on .co.uk then you will not get the .uk discount.
Or vice versa. |

Sorry Bee See, I misunderstood. Oooh. I was tired and did not reread my post after posting. That is strange. Hmmm, but the .ca. with the period after it is OK, just the free-stand dot ca's are affected. How dare anybody!! How about this: www.adminware.ca (dot ca) |

Well, that worked, a full address. Oh, and I did not read your post correctly either, sorry again. .ca .ca .ca (dot ca's) www.ebay.com www.ebay.com (dot ca's) Oh, must be because this forum is linked in business -wise with dot com. |

In case you haven't figured it out yet, SCF has a built-in spell-check that "corrects" your .ca to .com There are a few others too; it happened to me last week, but I don't remember the term it kept correcting. KS |
