First one I'd say should be from somewhere in Jaipur State in Rajputana/Rajasthan. (Not likely to be the Airport in 1901 ...) I'd guess it's the Rajputana Jaipur because the address is in Hindi. If it was the Orissa Jaipur, the address would probably be in Oriya, which looks quite different. (Have a look at any of the stamps of Bamra for comparison: they're inscribed in Oriya and English.)

I think the delivery CDS might perhaps be Bhagalpur, in Bihar.

The Bikaner CDS certainly looks as if it's seen better days! Bikaner was an important centre, so its CDS would have had a fair bit of use.

From the back of a Queen Victoria Half Anna mini-envelope. A curious stamp in purple.

The purple handstamp appears to be a personal, probably merchant's, seal - strictly unofficial.

I'd guess the cover originated in Bhiwani, now in Haryana State (formerly Punjab) and was sent Lachmangarh, in the former Jaipur State.

Darn you're good. That's exactly correct. I figured the oval stamp was non-postal, but worth a second opinion.

Well, I figure you guys might appreciate this the best. This is the vast majority of my Indian Cover Hoard of 2010.

well it was a different life before world war 2. my folks never went to the stores had everything delivered. a carriage drawn by horses had our own tailors jewelers and other help in the premises writers like mulk raj anand used the estate as inspiration for their stories. had bars of gold and silver lying around. had more shoes than days in a year clothes were not repeated. different life oh well I am glad that at least I got a taste of it.
