Does hinging stamps lower the value of stamps? I have a hand made stamp book. All the stamps are hinged but I need to hinge them all and re-arrange them all to find my stamps into the collection. Is hinging them OK. I was going to put them into a note book. At least that way they are covered and I can write the year and stuff.
In my world, I hinge everything up to a value of about $30, I stamp collect to keep, and do not consider investment at all. All methods have their respective merits. Hingeing will reduce the value of a stamp.
If the stamps have already been hinged, then rehingeing should not be a problem. There is a difference of opinion on whether the old hinge should be soaked off (if it is not completely peelable) or just left on.
