nuggethill, You would have to plate it tp that position. I have the plating diagram for that position somewhere. If you are interested I can send it to you. The chances of it being a 4R1L is always slim but there are some out there and they are one of the rarest 1857 perf 15.5 1 cent.

Thanks Russ and yes please,to know the plating # would be nice my plating # start at #246 and I haven't anything before this.

Here is a link to the detail plating diagram. The red arrows indicate the plate position marks.

I scan my stamps at 2400 dpi to do the plating.
Scroll the left window and click 4R1L

Harry, I believe I saw an older post about at Scott 9 that you had. If you ever decide to attempt plating it, that is the link you would use. 1 cent type IV (Scott 9, 23) were only produced on plate 1 Late.
