Hi Everyone,

It looks like this forum is very active and has a depth of knowledge. I am pleased to now be a member.

I collect Canadian stamps, issued until 1990, when the number of new stamps issued became ridiculous.

There is no stamp club or other stamp collectors in my area (or that I know of), so I hopefully will be trading, buying, selling and gaining more knowledge of this great hobby via this community.

I too collect Canada. I haven't decided yet where to draw the line. With my US collection, I stopped at 2000; I may do the same with Canada.

You'll find lots of friendly folks here and lots of smart ones too.

Welcome Stamporator! There are plenty of collectors from Canada, you will enjoy it here. There are many threads on Canada - Hidden dates, the Marine booklet, Blue Whale, Picture Postage etc.

As you can see, I also live in BC (Vancouver area).

I neither live in Canada or collect Canada. I have never even been to Canada....and the amount of money I am spending on stamps, it's unlikely I will be visiting in the near future.

But to this great forum.

Hi stamporator, I've only been on here for a couple of weeks and already feel quite at home as I'm sure you'll be.




I stopped around 1985 except for the odd new issue which strikes my eye and even then I usually use it up for postage.

Do you collect all Canada and Provinces or just go back to a certain year? What's your favorite era(s)?

Or just post a topic about it might be better. And pics. Ther are lots of Canada stamps we haven't seen on here yet.

I collect all Canada stamps that have been assigned a Scott number in Unitrade, plus PB's, precancels and perfins. The latter two being where I am focusing most of my current time ...and money. Ideally I would like VF-MNH, but am happy to fill the spaces with used until I can change them out for better ones. I obtained a few thousands Canada town cancels on paper (99% different) dated between 1950 and 1970, and am not sure to extend this collection or pass it on to someone else.

I see that I did not answer all your questions.

I collect only Canada. But like all other collectors, I have accumulated a lot of other countries that include Canada Provinces that I will start to trade, barter and sell once I get the 50+ postings.

Welcome to SCF. As a Canadian I use to collect Canada when I was young but I change when I was back to collecting 5 years ago. I joined SCF last summer and believe me it gives a new dimension to the hobby. Ask question, make comments, show your stamps and soon you'll reach 50 posts. Then you can buy, sell and trade. Daniel

Like you, I started with (in my case a few) country collections - but when I got going again a few years back I decided I wanted I wanted a fun collection rather than a definitive one, so now I mostly collect by topic - just what takes my fancy, so I have several dozen mini-collections, and have managed to lose the desire for having completion. Saves a lot of hassle (and a lot of cash!)

The amount of new members joining SCF is a good thing to see,trading here has improved,topic discussions has increased and there has been more people will to share there knowledge which is great so I really hope you enjoy the forum.
