That is a type 1 Machin horizon security label. These are clerk printed labels for various parcel services. I have quite a few unused se-tenant pairs. |

Its a label produced by the PO teller at the time of posting. These have replaced the plain white labels. There have been a couple of threads on these in the last couple of months. Its obviously the machin image, but its a label not a stamp, I can't answer your question as to cataloguing. I'm sure someone else will be able to! |

Hi Shareminator Odd that you posted this thread in here now. I say this because just yesterday, I too got one on a parcel from Scotland. He sent me a flag and that is what he used on his mail to me. Glad he did too. It is more a label than a stamp and I would not be surprised if Scott.s does not intend to list these. However, it is still a good piece of Machin 'collertaral' material nonetheless. Not sure if it will soak either so, I intend to keep mine on piece until I find out one way or the other. Chimo Bujutsu |

Do not soak it at least not in water. If you want to remove it treat it like a self adhesive and use a naptha based white fuel such as Coleman camping fuel. |

Thanks for that information Anthony. I had my suspicions about the label. Will keep it on piece anyway - it didn't cost me anything <G>

These are used for labels on items valued 88p and above (don't ask me why that's tghe minimum - the post office clerk who explained to me said me didn't have a clue!)
How did you get the unused pairs, AnthonyUK? The guy here refused to sell me them without me paying 88p for a cancellation!
And definitely don't soak it, Bujutsu - I'm not even sure naphtha will work, I got nowhere with my first copy and ended up ruining it. It seems to be the same adhesive as is now used on the 1st and 2nd class machins.
I think it will in due course be listed by Stanley Gibbons, as they have included similar "picture labels" eg the Sans Soucis from Germany. And whether it's a label or a stamp, I'm certainly going to include it in my machins collection - but on paper. |

I definately won't soak it just to be on the safe side. My friend in Scotland who sent me the flag is a specialist on Machins and he tells me that the Gibbons Concise catalog should someday have that stamp (label) listed.

Hi David, I asked at a post office counter and the woman gave me a stack of them. The minimum value is 0.00p as they can be used for mail order returns - code MOR but for paid usage it is 81p. Coleman fuel works on all current self adhesives including these labels. I have used it. Lots of horizon label info here - http://norphil.blogspot.com/search/...izon%20label |

Thanks for the info, Anthony.
Amazing how little some postal clerks seem to know . . . I'll go and try to get hold of some today!

David If your post office has the new printing, they will be Imperf and not Kiss Die-Cut perfs. If so, can you get one for me too ? I'll pay for it of course and all costs. But only if Imperf. There is a great site for all Postage labels in great detail. http://postagelabelsuk.com/?tag=machinThe link takes you to the Machin pages but look around, you will be pleasantly surprised. Hello
So, we need collect this horizon labels one of each "code"? plus each "type font" of each code.
Maybe this labels are another example for a kind off "Box" collection

I tried to get the mint versions from a post office and a sub post office - blanket refusal! So if anyone manages to get hold of some, let me know and I'll trade!
And, novato, IMHO I wouldn't bother with different values, fonts etc - just differences in the printing of the basic stamp. |
