Which country's first stamps were printed on the back of maps?

PRIZE: some coats of arms stamps from the same country, and a dozen maps on stamps from 12 different countries.

If a person is thinking they are looking at Latvia #1, and there is no map on the back, it might be from the map's margin. If I recall correctly, these maps are typically black and brown, and there is supposedly a premium for maps in one color, only. Whether anyone out there actually pays such a premium, I have no idea...

They were German war maps - Latvia emerged of course from the ruins of WW1 and the Russian revolution.

Some time in the last couple years (maybe here?) I read a calculation estimating the number of permutations of these stamps. I don't specifically recall the punchline, but I feel like it was in the six figures, maybe seven. Suffice it to say, completeness would not be something to strive for. I have a bunch of singles, and a pair, but no blocks. After seeing these, I need to search out a block or two. Thanks for sharing.

Colour Trials : Printed on Obsolete Landcharts in shades of orange, rose, scarlet - I saw them come up for auction once but didn't have the money at the time.
