At last years WAPEX there was a one frame exhibition
of "man's cruelty to man" postcards, public hangings etc.

I have some images of Chinese in Japanese bamboo cages.
Gruesome stuff but still part of postal history.

Moonbird, I was thinking the same thing, particularly with the use of the word jungle. And of course at this time, (1916?) things were done and said that just would not pass the smell test of today.

I guess my point would have been that I was more shocked by the violence. Usually Postcards are picture of some serene pond or a majestic Mountain view but PC's also picture everyday life of a certain area, and in this certain area this person was probably depicted as someone Native to the area where Crocodiles are.
