Recently I have been interested in stamps of the League of Nations.

I have two questions: I can find Swiss stamps over printed "Societe des Nations. I assume that these were League of Nations stamps. Am I correct?

Second---In searching on Bidstart I find some stamps inscribed as if they were specially printed for the League of Nations. (These aren't cheap) Did the League of Nations finally issue its own stamps?

The stamps which show "Helvetia" and S.D.N. are true League of nations stamps and not Swiss stamps honoring the League of nations. Is this right?

I came across several League stamps on Bidstart with prices up to $1000. They were bicolors with a man's head surrounded by a frame.

They are Swiss Commemoratives Rohumpy.
The others to which you refer, I would suggest
command a high price because a lot of United Nations collectors
wanting stamps of the beginnings, supply and demand driving up the price.
The slogan cancel of the first United nations
is also desirable ( I have one) and a book has been
written just on this cancel.

Sadly, me too. I have ordered a Swiss stamp with the overprint "Societe des Nations" which I am guessing is overprinted for use by the League. It did not cost an arm and aleg. Less than 5 dollars.
