i know this question is going to show off my "newbi-ness" but :

what is a "red line" series stamp.the reason I ask in my post about Bear Bryant FDC we got to talking about the Bear stamp #3143 and rod222 referred to a redline series.how is it different than the regular stamp?

any help would be appreciated.

There were 2 types of the football coaches issues 3143-3146 without the red bar above the coach's name and 3147-3150 with a red bar above the coach's name.

I had the same question when I came across that series. I eventually figured it out after looking at the Scott's Catalog for awhile.

There are no n00bs in stamp collecting. Just something a newcomer hasn't come across yet. Until this thread, I'd never heard the 3147-3150 series called the 'red line' series. So we both learned something today.
