I think I am going to have to start collecting perfins. The railroads and gasoline/oil companies would tie in well with my Route 66 collection. I would especially be interested in the Santa Fe RR, Gulf Mobile & Ohio RR, Illinois Central RR, Texaco, etc.

Earlier in this topic I posted a perfin with a "T" encircled by a 5-sided pentagon and was advised that it was "Texaco".

I since found this one with a "T" inside of a star. Any idea what this one could be? Perhaps, State of Texas (Lone Star State)?

Getting back to my earlier post, Row 2, Stamp 4 with perfin RRD is likely RR Donnelley, Chicago area printers since 1864 (which makes sense since most of the perfins I have with those initials are clearly from Chicago.)

BTW, "RR" Donnelley stands for "Richard Robert" Donnelley, who founded the company.

Also found that Row, 3 Stamp 3 with perfin LDC Co is likely L.D. Caulk, Co. I identified a faint cancel on the face of the stamp from Milford, Delaware, and found the company (now known as DENTSPLY) is still located in that city. Their web site descirbes themselves as a firm that begin in 1899 as a dental laboratory and became the "largest professional dental supply company in the world."
