Oh no you won't. That voucher is for £25 off the set of Stamps of the world 2011 catalogues which retails for £249. Not such a good deal. I also received one and called today. |

I'm getting a bad feeling....
We're all going to "win" a coupon for 10% off an item with a 100% markup ...

I got mine yesterday too. Of course I got what I really wanted, a modern GB meter on an SG envelope. |

Does anyone ever actually fall for this sort of trick? Presumably they must or SG etc wouldn't try it on - it's almost as much of a con as premium rate phone calls . . . |

Well, David:
I fell for it. On their website, it looked like a real and legitimate contest. I read carefully before giving my name and address because I don't like to indiscriminately join mailing lists.
But, I didn't see anything untoward about the contest. So I entered.

I don't mean falling for the competition, KirkS - I mean actually redeeming the voucher by buying something overpriced. |

I follow David. I still feel a little duped. On the other hand, from the SG point of view, they did give away a set for free and we didn't win, so it's nice of them to offer us a discount on a set if we wish to purchase. I didn't see "limit one coupon" in the fine print, so maybe someone should collect 4 or 5 and get a REAL discount KirkS |

Oops, I missed that SV.
I guess we really have no reason to feel "duped" - they did give away a set of catalogs - it's a commonly-used marketing technique to get new contact information - I don't really mind receiving mail from SG (as long as they don't sell me to non-stamp companies) - the coupon was a nice gesture; they're going to sell the catalogs at the same price whether or not I buy one. - it benefits us all for SG to stay in business |

One last bump on this thread... Is there anyone who didn't enter the contest that would like my 25 GBP discount coupon? I will mail it to you if you reply (here or via email) within the next 48 hours -- otherwise, it goes in the recycle bin. By the way, I have Voucher #0011. Is that the same number everyone else got, or does that mean I'm Loser #10 Kirk |
