Desertgem,
Right now I'm still trying to find my niche. My sister and I used to collect stamps as kids starting with a nice base given to us by our grandfather with additional supplements of current mint purchases made by our mother. Now I'm the "caretaker" of the stamp collection as it were, so now I'm spending a fair amount of time just trying to figure out what we have (which has been encouraged greatly by these wonderful topical threads).
I really do want to get an album (or albums) for the majority of the collection, simply because it seems a bit daunting to build my own given the sheer volume, but I haven't settled on what would strike a good balance between comprehensiveness, expandibility and adequate protection.
On the other hand, I'm really excited about the idea of putting together a few custom-made albums with interesting groupings. With a little bit of an accompanying write-up, I think these types of albums could be really nice and make for nice presentation pieces. One of the first areas I'm going to tackle, to keep my first attempt relatively small is to try to acquire a complete collection of stamps jointly issued by the U.S. and one or more other countries. And if I could get FDCs for the joint issues, all the better (I really do love FDCs). Then I might move on to joint issues between/among other non-U.S. countries. I have a few other grouping ideas too, but don't want to "bite off more than I can chew."
In general though, right now, I'm happy to get just about any stamps I can get my hands on. I figure you never know when you will see something that will spark a new idea for an interesting presentable grouping.
And, because I am a scanning junky, here is another Air-Mail stamp. This one is from Hungary. According to freestampcatalogue, it was released in 1966 as part of an 11 stamp set featuring various cities (this one would be Frankfurt, obviously). Scott # wasn't listed, but Michel # is 2283, Yvert # is A282.
