Rod: I saw that ghost "stamp" and immediately thought of "Ghost Riders in the Sky". |

Hi litho
I hear you about people never posting and it does make one wonder why they join in the first place.
There could be a variety of reasons for this and one of them would be that some individuals probably think that they do not have anything to offer to the community, which, in my opinion anyway, is wrong because they could still ask and learn new things to boot.
Some online live chat rooms are bad for lurking. They will sign in and say nothing. I can't see the point either. I belong to a chat room that does not tolerate lurkers and we stress that you 'chat'. Chat about anything, even the weather if you want but at least participate. The room works well too because everyone has something to say.
Enough of my ranting

Cynical: That was a quite a wow! moment, thanks for posting your comment, I am a bit of a Frankie Laine fan, and have a few of his CD's somewhere, I just looked him up on wiki regarding ghost riders in the sky, and I notice two surprising facts, "High Noon" was by Tex Ritter, not FL, and one of my all time Jimi Hendrix tracks "Hey Joe". was once a FL cover ! What an absolute surprise.

Actually High Noon is one of my favourite movies and I watch it every time it comes on TV. I can't imagine it without Tex Ritter's rendition of "Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darlin'". It's a big reason why the movie is such an icon in my opinion. In the next couple of days I'll watch again for the umpteenth time another one of my alltime favourites A Christams Carol the 1951 version with Alastair Sim. |

I have to agree with litho and others in here. High Noon was also one of my favourite movies too. In fact, one of my other hobbies is accumulating old movies, whether they are old westerns, comedies and the old detective series such as Charlie Chan, Boston Blackie etc etc.
I sometimes say I have too many hobbies but when you stop to think of it, it is the hobbies that keep us going.

I used to go in to a live chat room that was dedicated solely to the supernatural purely out of intersest but did not stay too long with them because some, not all, of the members were way out. My handle in that room was Ghost Rider and I too really like the song of that title sung by Frankie Lane.

All this talk about Ghost Riders brought back memories of The Doors singing Riders on the Storm which according to an article in Wikipedia was inspired by (Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend.

I jokingly tell people I'm a tangential thinker. They are not good for forum threads but its wonderful where they take you. All the posts from the beginning are a great example of the path that tangential thinking can take you. Still laughing about the route. |
