Quite often on SCF I come across a few lines that are very profound and succinct. In a few words someone says all that needs to be said. Below are two examples I came across this morning.

Quote:
Cgrotha 04/26/2009:s
The beauty of the engraved stamps of the "classic era" becomes even more impressive when you consider the process of engraving the plates and over all what little respect these little pieces of art get in the regular world

Quote:
Luvthecommonwealth's profile:
"When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather. I don't want to go screaming like the passengers in his car."

There must be hundreds of pithy quotes hidden in the thousands of posts on SCF. If you can think of any or come across any in your searches I, and probably many others, would appreciate seeing them. They would make great holiday reading.
Thanks.

There are so many funny moments here that it would be hard to pick one.

One thing, not exactly a quote, that has resonated with me this winter is from the Queen Victoria Jubilee. The first Christmas stamp, the Canadian 1898 map has that quote, "We hold a vaster empire than has been"

I think it really applies to us as collectors. I can open an album of stamps and hold in my hands a vast array of history, geography, art, and biography.

And I don't collect worldwide like some of you. You guys and gals really do own a piece of civilization.

my recent favorite quote was regarding some damaged stamps which I believe someone asked the value.

"I suggested the guy just bury it somewhere to give it a decent death."

I had to clean coffee off my monitor after that brutally honest answer.

Not sure if this was ever posted previously on SCF, but on a humorous note, a quote from Dilbert:

I posted this before, so here's the link to a relevant quote on stamp collecting, albeit dated before any of us were around:

I like Jubilee's quote from Rod Stewart on his profile - I'm not going to get married again I'm just going to find a woman I don't like and give her a house.
It always makes me smile, because it reminds me of the classic Zsa Zsa Gabor quote, "I'm a great Housekeeper. Every time I get divorced - I keep the house..."
There's always two sides to every story..!
