Hello All,
I have recently expanded my stamp collection to include Israel tab singles, so I'm here to learn from the experts. By removing the blank margin from the side of a tab single, would I be decreasing its market value in any way? Are stamps such as this, from the corner of a sheet, considered more desirable if saved this way versus as a typical tab single? I've attached a photo of the stamp I am concerned about.

I'm specifically referring to the blank margin panels on the left side of the stamp.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Everett

Israel stamps, for the most part, are printed in small sheets. Corner copies therefore do not have any more value than regular tabbed singles.
The early definitive sets may be an exception to the rule, but only slightly so.
However, corner examples can have a personal attraction, whichever country they are from.
If you don't need to take the side margin off, then I would say leave it where it is. Of course it does look odd if the rest of the set are not corner copies, and there is your decision !

Hope this helps a little

Good question.
I do not know of another country that lists their stamps with tabs in catalogues, but I may be wrong.
Of course there are many stamps with tabs...in fact, one quick look through an album just now, and I saw quite a few. Some with 'blank' Tabs and others with markings/design. But they are not listed as such.

Londonbus1...sorry I can't be more specific.

Londonbus, thanks for the advice. I'm sure I'll have other questions as I move forward. Nice to know that there's such a great forum to turn to for answers!
