The Festive Season....has Your Mail Arrived ?

I'm still waiting for one lot of stamps, posted on or about Dec 8 from the US.

I think the mail these days is generally very slow. I'm not sure it's been that much worse lately.

Does anyone know where the mail goes?

I've had three items take unreasonable lengths of time to arrive in the last 6-7 months. Two were from the US (5 weeks and 7 weeks) but the item that arrived today, January 11, really takes the cake - it was posted in Moscow on October 19. That's nearly 3 months!

What's more, I wanted the stamps in this package in order to complete sets I already owned. But since the package didn't arrive in a reasonable length of time, I ended up selling the incomplete sets on ebay - and probably got a lot less for them as a result.

Nonetheless, the arrival of this package gives me hope that an item sent from Istanbul, Turkey, on November 1 may actually turn up sooner or later.

All this is a great source of frustration to me. Since it only takes 24-28 hours for a plane to fly to Australia from the other side of the world, I'm left wondering where these items were the rest of the time.

Does anyone have any insights into this?

Still waiting for Royal Mail. Haven't had time to call. Probably tomorrow.

Probably happens in other countries too.

My mail has been arriving, more trickling really. Still a lot yet to arrive including Secret Santa and other philatelic packets along with greetings cards etc.
I got one card on Thursday that was posted on December 7th in the UK. More than 1 month.

I did have something arrive from Brasil recently that took 1 month but that isn't so unusual. On the whole RM have been pretty good.
We become so used to the good service that we feel disappointed when something like the one wt1 mentioned occur.

Nothing yet, the post office does not seem to think it is time to worry.

I received my missing package 2 days ago, so my wait is over. And it came special delivery. Still took almost 3 weeks to get here so regular mail should be taking a while.
