Being as I'm a DBA for a living, the thought of NOT having my stuff in a database is just ... odd!

Using StampManage 2011. Database is growing from version to version, but still find myself fixing errors and attaching the proper image. Supposedly if you upload enough changes/additions, you get the next version gratis. And with the underlying database being access, it's easy enough to write my own queries/forms to use.

Bob, have you looked at running one of those stamp management programs under wine??

Dave

Something is better than nothing.

I have been writing/creating computer software for more than 40 years, using octal and hexadecimal from assembly to SQL and I still have not created my own software package. Why? There are too many good ones out there. I still use Excel, which meets my needs very nicely. For U.S. regular issues, I kept it simple. Scott Number, variety, description, date of issue, stamp value, date purchased, my cost, image on the stamp, MNH, MH, Used, Damaged, qty of each and most important for me is my "Satisfied Copy" cell. In addition for my coils I have a LP column, plate number and strip of column. I'm sure I forgot a couple of data elements and I have yet to put a scanned image of my stamp in a cell. I have not gone to this extent for my U.S. Revenues. I can sort on any column, filter on any column and always know what I'm specifically looking for. Comes in handy when going to a stamp show.

That being said, I'm always looking for the oddball item that goes in my collection. Then there are my documents and covers. Then I need to do this for my State Revenues, my CSA and slave documents. I have too many areas in my collection for any simple system.

Perhaps when I retire I'll get a "roundtooit" and see what happens.

Sadly I'll have to wait for the 64bit version of EZStamp to come out before I can demo it. Marios tells me in an email reply that the magic date is May 24'th (or earlier).

Dave.

Yes, it is.. I have been testing it for sometime now, it will be the most powerful, flexible, and have the most stamp images of any software available.

I will be quite happy when it is released.

Thank you stampvirgin, on your recommendation I have gone ahead and purchased EzStamp. I'm coming back to stamp collecting after a long layoff and almost starting from scratch. I don't have a huge inventory to input. I can just add my stamps as I obtain them.

Hi,

Ready Software or Spreadsheet. Most of the Software to some extent
deficient specially Specialized collection need. For basic OK.
Yes Spreadsheet can be tailored according to your Preference.

In the software Pickup list many are subjective. It has to be
against measured Criteria.

Should Software be able to Input every Information New,Newly
found or Introduced ?

another nice thing about ezstamps is that if your stamp is not in the database, or your image isn't there. you can add it along with detail information.
so you can add what ever you wish.
