Ok, First Question

I've been given a collection put together by an elderly gentleman who is no longer active. It comprises 11 Scotts International Albums which take up 40" of shelf space. Almost all used but in nice condition and lots and lots of stamps.

Since my interests are reasonably narrow (Bureau Issues), the thought of going through album after album of various foreign issues doesn't particularly please me.

I'd like to dispose of the collection but, being away from the hobby for so long, have no idea who is or isn't a reliable dealer or even a collector.

If anyone has suggestions as to how to proceed, including the name or names of ethical dealers who might be interested, I'd be most appreciative.

Welcome. There has been renewed interest in Internationals of late. Auction prices seem to have gone through the roof, comparatively speaking. Live auctions I attend always have a few to several, it seems, and they're no longer $50-75. Pretty much the same thing with ebay.

Selling them to a dealer will be easy, and will probably garner your lowest overall return (in terms of dollars, at least). If you're willing to invest time, take a look at the various ways they're broken down for sale on ebay. By volume, by country, by set. I suspect that the smaller you are willing to go in breaking them down, the higher the overall dollar total will reach.

From a time and return stand point, I would pull higher value items for individual/set/series sale and list the remainder as album with stamps.
