It is a piece of African Iolite. This piece hasn't been faceted yet until I decide the best design ( and time). It is about 22 carats, but will end up about 4 cts finished. Iolite has 3 different colors depending on the axis, with the best always seems to be the most shallow ) makes for a small cut stone. But that is similar to life sometimes

Way cool. I'm pretty maxed out with stamps and coins (not to mention work and sort of keeping the house up). However someday I can see myself collecting gems, minerals and fossils as well.
