I was watching the tv show pickers where people are found with barns and warehouses full of collectibles..i feel humbled at my meagre lifetime attempt to accumulate stamps and covers..i guess I am not fanatic after all !!

They have some interesting things on that show. But best of all it shows that I am not a hoarder, I just do stamps....and things that are shiny |

Personally, I have no desire to be like those folks on pickers. In fact, I strive to be clutter-free. What would I gain by having one unusual trinket worth $1,000 if it was lost in 10 acres of junk? I'd rather have neat, clean, orderly and know exactly what I have. Alas, I doubt I'll ever get there ... KirkS |

Like all TV shows you have to remember it isn't real life. They are actors. The prices they pay for some of the stuff are invented. And what they say they can sell it for assumes unrealistic conditions. What amazes me is the number of rusty beat up metal signs they buy. |

Another good one is auction kings-- Seen some really interesting items go through that show. 1st edition of the great gatsby estimated around $10k but if it had the original dust cover it would be closer to 200k. Sorta like old toys with or without packages. Pickers is sorta sanford and son with a nicer vehicle. I do get a kick out of how many times pawn stars calls in experts to value items. Any pawn store I've ever dealt with would definatly try and beat ya over the head and pay squat. Seen the one guy bring in small bar of gold worth about 15k melt but had some white crusty stuff on it so the expert says its from a 16th century sunken ship with coral and worth 2x melt value. If it wasn't on camera I'm sure they would have offered melt and checked it themselves later. All good shows to increase collectors. Personally I can't become a hoarder I have no more room! |

I love to watch those shows, minus Hoarders. It makes me sick to my stomach to see people wallowing in messes like that. As for old metal signs, I like advertising especially Pepsi. I've always liked old things and junk. |

I enjoy those shows too. Anyone remember an old episode of Pawn Stars where a young woman came in and sold off a collection of old-time railroad stock certificates for a meager $5 apiece. I was drooling...the artistic engravings on those items were magnificent that I'm sure they must have been sold at a great profit. |
