I know a lot of different country's postal issues contain a post horn on them. Can anybody give me any background information on the use of the post horn. Also show some of your collections that have them.

So they were used like the red flag thingy on the side of a US rural mail box. The rider / deliverer came riding up to a town square and blew his horn signaling you have mail.

Was this a common way to deliver public mail in Europe?
