OK I just read the space for the stamps and read prepaid, don't I feel stupid. ....(what follows is my original post)These are obviously Australian and FDC but I don't know why they put the stamps on the front. Wouldn't that necessitate putting postage on the back again to mail? These came packaged together and I have several other sets. So can someone fill me in, and should I keep them together? Thanks - Jeff

These are known as Maxi-cards or Maximum Cards, having a stamp on a postcard-like card and a first day of issue cancel. maximizing your pleasure in getting all these collectible items together in one place.

Great Britain started this idea some years ago. Other countries worldwide have followed suit.

Canada has come out with postcards with a printed on facsimile of the stamp on the back (tagged anyway it is) but no Maxi-cards unless some collector made them. rare as hens teeth over here. Same in the US I would think.

More of a European way of collecting than a North American but it is slowly catching on (I hope).

Be careful,
those cards may not hold concordance
depending on the stamps.
Australia post may be slapping you on the back,
whilst lifting your wallet.

These are 1991 Australia Maximum Cards: Australia Post Series - Prepaid Postcards. Australian Writers of the 1890s set of 4, first day of issue. Postcard reverse is also usually prepaid - even if internationally posted.
