Is anyone aware of a list showing Scott catalogue numbers and the equivalent Stanley Gibbons numbers for Great Britain stamps?

Hi Mhc99,

Sorry, I don't know of one, but I had found an online catalog for German stamps that had Several other catalog # listings for each stamp. Maybe you could find what you are looking that way - by trying online dealer catalogs that have multiple cat# for their stamps. Just an idea.

Scott would be very upset if they found their numbers next to Gibbons.

A friend of mine has a Flag Stamp website and asked Gibbons if he could use their numbers alongside Scott numbers on the pages. They readily agreed.
When he approached Scotts, he got a curt "No".

I hope this helps.

Londonbus1....usually of no help at all.

Bite the bullet and buy an older or 2nd hand SG. Very few people will authoritatively use Scotts for GB unless this is all they have.
There is a fairly basic 'COLLECT BRITISH STAMPS' that should be reasonably priced

Just for info the Domfil thematic stamps catalogues show number from Michel, Scott, Yvert Tellier and Unificato. I have the Europa 2006 from Domfil. They are not published anymore. The mother company went bankrupt after a financial scandal. Probably a rare case were Scott agreed that his catalogue numbers be used in another cat. along with other cat. numbers.

There used to be a few country references on the internet but they seem to have all disappeared. Scott started a campain a few years ago of getting this stuff off the web.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. When Oldtriguy1960 reported that he found a Germany x-ref number listing in an online catalogue, I checked the net and found that Henry Gitner's website has a partial Germany listing (Scott#s & Michel#s) of stamps for sale to the late 1900s which I can use. As far as Great Britian, I went online and found that gbstamps.co.uk has an extensive list of stamps with both Stanley Gibbons and Scott numbers. I guess I'll have to write up a list but for my purposes, I'm only interested for a listing that covers the period before the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. To find the listing, from the home page click on the "Stamp Price List 1840 - 2011 Go" button (upper left side of the screen). On the next screen, choose the era you want and select whether you want a simplified or detailed listing. Regards Mike
