Almost done Great Britain... wowzers their stamps were creative. Only 10 more envelopes until I reach the oddities! I'm excited!

So far this Cook Son & Co. marking is the only "different" one that I can see... I'm not sure if the dated one went with it or something.

Is it an interesting stamp in anyone's opinion?

The one on the left is probably more interesting than the one on the right. The left is a commercial overprint, and fulfilled a receipt function, rather than a postal function. The one on the right is almost certainly a revenue cancel.

So, neither saw postal duty, but the overprint is collectible to some. Not many, but some. (I like them, and there's a society for them.)

Watermarks maybe? Sideways, upside down? Maybe they were just not sorted yet, in the to be sorted envelope?

Hi iNkredibo, welcome.

Best to start a new topic yourself for this.

Call it 'Bavaria Overprint help', as the stamp is from Bavaria and has an overprint. I don't know the answer but some on here would.

Bavaria #237, from 1920, 20pf overprinted on 3pf, catalogue minimum value (.20).

I agree, a separate thread would get lots of views.

AnthonyUK ~ Awesome! Thank you sooo much ~ it's very nice of you to say! :-)

I pulled out those 5 "oddities" again and compared them with like stamps. My untrained eye did not see a watermark and I do not see any errors in color or in the image. ~ The guys eyes are where they should be. I will leave them filed where they are and maybe one day it will be second nature for me to notice tiny flaws or inconsistencies.

Well, I've got Greece through Venezuela to visit today... My goal is to get them all recorded in my book and scanned into my computer by the end of the day! I do not peek a head... and I'm hoping for another oddities envelope :)

Oh yeah, I wanted to count my GB stamps from yesterday... I have 42 scanned images that contain a total of 1,020 individual GB stamps. I will be seeing you soon PhotoShop!

Okay, so I was thinking yesterday... No, it did not hurt. Anyway, I believe I was on the wrong train of thought when it comes a forum. I want to document my trails and tribulations during the next few months of stamp investigation. I just don't think its fair to everyone to do it here. I add posts so the number keeps going up... I'm so afraid that this will be a flaming ball hot topic with basically (basically) myself yip yapping. Sooo, I looked into my GoDaddy account yesterday and they give me a free blog page. So my new plans are to "document" my thoughts and discoveries there. HOWEVER, this site IS AWESOME! The people are knowledgeable and friendly. I plan to continue using this site... however more like it's indented to be... a forum. Yesterday, I set up the blog... lol. (I never put myself out there to be "judged" yuck - but oh well)

So, only if you are so inclined, you can go to your browser (not a search engine) and just type in...

blog.travelbugantiques.com

My page should pop up. hahaha. So far it's just a short recap of the collection and what I'm working on now. But I will add to it often. **Hopefully be adding something interesting about those oddities! :-)

Hey, don't leave us all in the dark here.

We like to hear about trials and tribulations. Really.

It is inspiring to collectors, new and old, to hear and read about such stuff that everyone goes through. makes you feel not so alone sometimes and that you can also butt in and add a few comments yourself about what is going on.

Scientific trial and error, that's how we learn, through mistakes. Its great hearing about someone else's mistakes so then we can hopefully avoid them ourselves or at least feel not so bad when we do it ourselves even after reading about it. Ha.

Now, can I leave comments on your blog? Oh buy oh boy.
