Question... Can I upload photo's/Images without starting a new post? I want to share two photos of my pre-sorting on just one section of the collection. All other stamps are either in envelopes or in books. Below is the shoe box collection. I had fun sorting them by country.. so far.

If you use the "Reply to Topic" function instead of the Quick Reply, then the photo icon is available, and you can add photos to an existing thread.. |

Eeek! be careful with that pencil, it is almost on a 1d mauritius magenta, that is a fairly valuable stamp you have.

Welcome to the club, I do that, no inverted Jenny will escape me :)
Sorry for a bad joke, but your pencil is adopting the missionary position.

This is what I'm working on now... This box will be next! Just so you know... I went through the entire collection briefly when my brother first handed it over to me... for my Internet project. There's a storage tub with books, boxes, and envelopes full of stamps. And I'm only half way through the first box of worldwide. I want to "document" and share my sorting, discovery and learning experiences with knowledgeable collectors. So I'm here and I plan on updating this post with photo's, questions and such as I go along. I know it is very unlikely to come a crossed something extremely rare. That does not bother me... the collection belonged to my father and to me that makes them priceless. Plus, I truly enjoy a good treasure hunt and have a great appreciation for antiques! |

About to tackle Great Britain... 42 envelopes... The last envelope is labeled Oddities... exciting! I briefly looked at them nothing stands out to my untrained eye. I will research them and put them up if I need some help or if they are interesting. Another is labeled Cut squares... I just learned about those the other day thanks to a sc user. |

My project is on-going with those plastic tubs I mentioned. There is about 200,000 to 250,000 stamp (no kidding) all off paper with small and large stamps mixed with WW. Some are mint but the majority is used.
What I have to do is get the different countries separated first, then do the separate countries by either mounting them into '102 cards' or mount them on approval sheets for trading purposes later. Actually, I am ahead of myself, I make sure I get the ones first that I need for my collection and then do the other mounting. <G>

That's so amazing B! It would be so much fun sorting through that amount. Big challenge! I'm going to be upset/sad when I finish going through my one tub.
Every find stamps at garage sales????
The stamps I'm working on now are in little envelopes. Is it okay to leave them there? The label on the box does not mention acid free. |
