This is not really a postcard, and it is not an envelope. It's not a FDC nor is a ???. This piece of card stock with a German stamp and cancellation of 20 May 1976? is obviously celebrated US Bicentennial, but I can't catalog it, id it, or really tell you what it is. And to top it all off the back has a blue stamp reading in English "From Italy by Tognellini Dino, Casella postale, 11-116-Rome. Does anyone know what this is? - Jeff

A maxi-card perhaps. The number of "collectible" items created for the US bicentennial was simply astounding.

International Days (Internationale Tage) is a cultural event held annually in the town. Looks like the dates were May 2 to July 4 in 1976, and the town used the opportunity to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial as a part of the festival.

[edit: By the way, those who object to a lack of concordance in their maximum cards might quibble about the relationship between the stamp and the card/cancel combo...I'm no expert on that.]

Cjd the date reads as follows "2.5-4.7.76" I am not sure how to read that but your read makes sense.

I'm pretty sure they'd use the day/month/year convention instead of the month/day/year convention. When they use Roman numerals for the months, it makes it more obvious to know which method was used.
