A stamp, or rather, what used to be a stamp, that is in two pieces is worth that much? That's really mind boggling. Must be some rich person that bought it simply because it's rare. I've never heard of a real collector even considering something in that condition. Does anyone know of other stamps that fetch that kind of price in such a condition?
would you take the inverted jenny that wound up in the vacuum cleaner? Damaged as it is? I would..
8,000 stamps overprinted..some with inverted overprints, ONE block of four survives, plus this torn stamp... yes it is rare. Not because it is torn, because it is one of 5 known to exist.
