I'm probably way off! But when I saw that post come up, I jumped on it. I love that set! But like I said about a hundred plus year old stamp on a cover with a letter inside--what history and beauty! Alas, well you know the story from there.

It's a nice stamp. I'm really interested to see what people think it is worth.

Because it takes all kinds, I wouldn't venture to guess, but you have to be pretty darn discerning and maybe just a little bit nutty to think that, going by this sales gimmick, a common stamp can be worth very much. How anal can a collector be?

Now will I have to go through what's left of all those three-cent commems I'd nearly disposed of to see if there are any hidden gems among them? How many did these guys examine to come up with 11 examples when there are sheets of these things still hidden away.

BTW I remember these stamps very well. I had just begun collecting earlier that year.

It is a beautiful example of a 1956 commemorative. I have that stamp, but the margins are not quite that nice.....my guess is probably way off.

Dianne, are these the pages you have been making? They are very nice. What software did you use? When you get your U.S. commemoratives collection to the point where you have spaces left to fill but no stamps to fill them with, let me know what you need and I'll see what I can come up with.
