Hi to all
On the back of one of these stamps is penciled the no. 82. There are all the same stamp. The one on the extreme right has colour missing from the hairstyle just at the end of the tiara. The stamp is not skinned or thinned. Has anyone else seen this on this stamp

Regards,
Horamakhet

I have these listed in Unitrade as #36. There are numerous re entries but nothing about the spot your pics shows. These were printed both in montreal and ottawa . I have about 50-60 of this issue and there are many shade varieties as well as inking issues being heavy or light. If you can take a higher resolution scan of just the right stamp more opinions could be made. I've learned that many of the printing errors are not overly relevant and a white spot could be as simple as lint on the plate but not consistant enough to warrant much interest. However personally I think many of these minor printing slips are likely extremely rare and are worth collecting as a personal variety.

Hi nitrolures

I have taken a better scan and you can see the fault more clearly now.
I have have seen a few of these stamps, but not with this variety.

Pics a bit better and hate to be picky but can you scan at 1200x1200 and crop really close to the stamp. I notice darker areas just above the light area that is from the cancel but it still sticks out interestingly. Ocerall stamp is pretty rough with left side and perf issues all the way around so value is going to be personal. Scan of back might be good to as that may show evidence . Trust me I have many that have small errors that are pretty unexplainable and uncataloged so they find their place im my personal favorites.

Hi nitrolures

These are 1200 scans hope they are better. The back still has some original envelope material. Should I soak it off?

Horamakhet

I am 99% sure this is s combonation of inking and the the cancel rub making that area seem so much brighter. If you could remove all the dark from above you would likely see very light area throughout the hair. Like I said with the perf problems and overall condition its not valuable other than for your own study . Below is 2 of my large queens that I also thought (still not sure) the one on the right was an error . As you can see the hairlines are extremely light.
What you can do is soak it in peroxide which will clean it up a bit and you can at the same time get the back paper off. Peroxide needs yo be used away from bright light or it doesn't work properly. Hope that helps a bit. I literally have 100's of small queens and keep checking for anomolies or paper/ perf issues . I am 99% sure I just found my first true re-entry on a 6 cent small queen so keep looking and asking questions. Its a treasure hunt and hunting is the best part.

Hi nitrolures

thanks for that information it is a great help. I will soak the paper off. With peroxide, how do I use it as I do not want to damage the stamp.

Horamakhet
