As I'm slowly getting better at ID-ing stamps from scans, I'm steadily getting more and more annoyed at mis-identified stamps on ebay (at least when it doesn't work out in my favor). Tonight I found this described as a 33:

It's a 35! At the very least, w/o three pearls on the outside, it's no 33. Aggh!

Should I tell the seller? I don't want to come off like an ass, but somebody might pay way to much for this.

I would. ebay has a lot of mis-identified stamps. I have notified sellers before and most will change their listing. Several did not reply or change the listing and a few became rude and even threatening. I think most mis-identified stamps on ebay are because of honest errors and most sellers do the right thing when it is brought to their attention.

I just looked at the listing. The seller is a member of APS and has a good feedback rating. I would think that he just made a mistake. I looked at the stamp in question and fully agree with you. The entry was from a trimmed transfer roll with only the top pearl entered. The stamp is a Type V (Scott 35).

Got a very nice message from the seller and the listing was pulled. And here I was wearing my asbestos shorts expecting flames.

Rod, to quote Jim Morrison, "the last time that happened, grown men were weeping."

I would tell them Otto

I know I had to on a few occasions with postcards stated to be from my area when in fact, some were not. They state my area only because they are good sellers.

My opinion anyway
