I have generally used Vario pages but have been looking a little more at Hagner. Hagner is more costly to buy but seems easier to use. Vario looks more secure, but I put my Vario/Hagner pages inside archive page protectors anyway, so security doesn't maybe seem as important. From forum members in the know, are there other pros or cons I should consider?

I use either, whichever I can get on the cheap, either 10c each used from the dealer (on the occasion that he has them) or at a stamp club auction. I will even buy a stamp collection just for the sheets if the price is right (gasp!).

I have Vario and Hagnar pages and found them both adequate.
Vario pages are sturdy and mine have lasted for many years, problem is
that they are expensive and stamps are more difficult to insert and remove.
Plus if not careful while removing stamps it's possible to
cause damage especially stamps which tend to sit tighter in the edges.

When I bought my first Hagnars I thought they were great, just
what I've been looking for.

I prefer Hagnars made in Sweden over Hagnars made in England since
the card board of the former appears thicker (more solid ?) than the
English ones. Also on a few of the English Hagnars the plastic
sleeves have separated from the bottom weld which sofar hasn't
occurred on the Sedish ones.

The last type I've bought lately are Prinz made in Germany which
are almost identical to Hagnars. Quality wise I would place them
between the two Hagnars.
I bought the Prinz pages because according to Unitrade who have a huge
stamp accessories store in Toronto and from whom I buy my stamp supplies,
claim that Hagnars are no longer available because Prinz bought them out.
All the Prinz pages in the packages of 5 I've bought sofar have a curve (bend)
compared to the Swedish Hagnars which are completely flat.

These are my observations only which probably don't match what
other collectors have experienced.

I recently priced a variety of sheets in anticipation of a big purchase and here is how the prices broke down:

Vario:
(Dealer)(Quantity)(Price+Shipping)(Price Per)
(Mit, ebay) (50) ($34) ($0.68)
(Mit, ebay) (200) ($101) ($0.51)**** Cheapest
(Amos Advantage) (5) ($4.00+s/h) ($0.80+s/h)

Hanger (2 Sided)
(Amos Advantage) (5) ($9+s/h) ($1.80+s/h)

Mit is the most competitively priced dealer of Vario sheets that I've found on ebay and I've been very happy with my orders so far.

Of course the biggest problem I have with Hanger sheets is the price. For $1.80 a sheet you can buy the very nicest 64 page Lighthouse stockbook (LS4Z, not the cheap looking Lighthouse they sell on Amos Advantage) with all clear acetate interleaves, nice padded cover + slipcase, and of course double-linen hinged pages (which in my opinion is far nicer to use than any ring'ed binder) so its a little bit of a stretch paying that amount of money for the sheets alone. Of course if you're persistent you can sometimes find a good deal on ebay - I recently picked up 30 Bosham Hanger sheets and 10 Prinz Hanger sheets for around $0.70 a sheet including shipping - YMMV.

Personally I find Hanger sheets to be more visually attractive and use them whenever I can. Another possibility to look into would be the Vario-Plus sheets @ around $1.26/sheet.

I don't see anyone making mention of the Lindner pages. Are these comparable in quality/price?

Vario Plus should be around US$1.60 to 1.80 per sheet at full retail. The ebay seller mentioned above has them at 15 pages for just under US$14, which is the best price I can recall for unused pages.

Cjd, you're correct. When I was building my table I entered the wrong quantity for VP sheets so they should be $1.26/sheet not $3.80/sheet.

Here is a scan of the English (Older, no longer made?) and German made Hanger sheets together to show their differences.

*The glued seam on the Prinz sheet is neat and clear. The glued seam on the English sheet is discolored due to age.
*The punched holes on the Prinz sheet are slightly larger than the English sheet.
*The black backing of both sheets measure the same thickness of .03mm and appear to be identical in color and texture but for some reason the Prinz Hanger sheet seems to be a bit stiffer, possibly due to age or better storage.
