The Wonderful Feeling Of Passing On Stamps

I now know why everyone enjoys passing stamps on to others. I have a friend that is wanting to get into the hobby and didn't know where to start. I got together with him the other night and we went thru my US Definatives and I wound up passing on around 150 stamps to him. Seeing the look on his face was priceless and I then realized why it is that you wonderful folks on here pass so many stamps on to the newbies. I want to give a big and hearty THANK YOU to everyone that has passed on to me and I hope that I am able to carry on the tradition of passing along. I know that here in the next couple of weeks I will be going thru my stuff and looking to see what else I can pass on. Thank You all once again and God Bless.

My grandchildren spent a week with us this summer. I had prepared to introduce my 11 year old grandson to stamp collecting. To give his 6 year old sister something to do while we were working with stamps, I had been saving those large pictures (& bar code) of stamps that come on some self-stick sheets of stamps. She likes stickers so I thought she would be happy sticking these in her sticker book. Well, it didn't take her long to figure out that her brother and I were working with "real" stamps and we were trying to pull a fast one on her by giving her "fake" stamps. She's a smart little imp. So anyway - they are both really excited about stamps now ------- and yes, it is fun to share with others.

Introduce someone to stampcollecting by any means necessary..you are doing them a favor..i read where its akin to meditation ..i am not saying its easier...but as a stress buster and relaxent..its a great bargain !!

You're right ,Phil! And it supposedly extends your life---as long as you're not
smoking along with sorting your stamps.

I agree It has been so much fun getting ready to assist the scouts on their stamp merit, getting albums together stamps etc. I only hope that out of the bunch a few continue to collect. It would be cool to have some of them want to meet monthly and keep trading collecting etc.

Well Good Luck Rick. My venture into trying to do something like that with the Church Group hit a steel reenforced wall. They asked the kids one Wednesday if anyone would like to start a stamp club and they all responded with the ever popular "that's lame" comment. SOOOOOO now I am off to build my display for the library and will leave my contact info so that if anyone else out there is interested or are already collectors they can make new fiends and I will also send them all to the Forum here.
