Is this what I think it is? It appears to be postage paid to the USPS but delivered by UPS. Am I misinterpreting something here?

The cover has a larger address sticker that includes the words "UPS Mail Innovations - MID"

I received a similar label a few days ago on a pkg delivered by the post office. Probably originated with UPS.

I would be interested to know if either of these items was delivered to a PO box.

Yes. Sometimes UPS will ship a package from city to city, and USPS will take it the "last mile" from the post office to customer mail box.

Amazon does it with books sometimes.

You're comment might be the answer, Kirk. UPS does not deliver to PO boxes and my piece was delivered to a PO box number. I suppose it may be a common delivery method but I have never heard of it before now. Thanks.

Aye, that's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

The USPS is contracted by UPS and does daily deliveries for them. The USPS goes to every address in the United States and UPS does not.

By the way, I didn't mean to imply it was ONLY for post office boxes -- they do the same thing for mail delivered to my home.
