GB Newspaper Branch Postmark

I have a couple of excellent references on GB postmarks, "Collect British Postmarks" by Dr J Whitney, and "London Postmarks on Printed Matter and Parcels from 1860" by Curt Fernau. The Fernau is 1998, so I'm hoping someone may have more up to date info.

I have the following postmark on a 14-dot 1d lilac



It took me quite a while to figure out what it was, but it makes sense when you see the illustration



As you can see, my postmark has a "10" in the top portion. Fernau states the following:

"The following numbers have been reported above the letter P:1,2,3,4,5,6,9 and 12"

Hence my query re more up to date references. Have I missed a discovery by 20 years, or am I still in with a shot? I did contact the society that Fernau is/was associated with, and as usual got no reply.

I think you are in rarified atmosphere
with this sort of material Jubilee.
I think it best to write to the Royal Phil Soc of London
for information on anyone continuing the study in this
discipline.
..or be content to know you have one outside the catalogues :)

You might be right Rod, but the RPS won't care either!

Stay with it Jubilee, they would not have made a 12 if there were not a 10. Someone out there will dig it up.

Hi, I have been collecting NPB postmarks now for a couple of years, but other than the books by Curt Fernau or Stitt Dibden (1971) there does not seem to be anything else written in depth. I have some that are not in either book. Regards.
